Paint work

1969 Ford Mustang Coupe

The client purchased the car 10 years ago and had been storing it since. For a nearly 50 year old car the body was in nice condition. A couple of rust holes were to be welded up and then it would be getting a new Orange Flame Bentley paint code. After stripping the body to bare metal and straightening some of the body, it received a coating of SPI’s epoxy primer for optimum adhesion. After some hours of fine block sanding base coat was applied and SPI’s clearcoat made up the outer finish. The windows had separated from their brackets and needed a good going over to get them going up and down smoothly. Next up, the engine will be pulled and the engine bay will get sanded and refinished as will the trunk. In the works will be an all new brake system complete with rear discs, new A/C system, high end stereo and a completely rebuilt interior. Eagle’s 408 c.i. stroker rotating assembly and full roller valvetrain are also on the horizon for this classic Ford’s Cleveland 351.

1972 Buick LeSabre Convertible.

This is an original owner’s car. It had been a daily driver for many years and had steadily deteriorated with the years. The owner decided to give it a makeover with some engine work and a new interior and custom paint. The heads were completely rebuilt, an Edelbrock Performer carburetor was added and we reassembled it with some steel exhaust headers into dual Flowmasters. Another paint shop had painted the car in Ford Lava Red, unbeknown to the client and the client didn’t like it. We are repainting the car in House of Kolor’s fantastic Brandywine Kandy.

BMW K-100  Jet Fighter

I’ve long admired BMW’s K series motorcycles. The engine layout is truly unique in the motorcycle world. From its beginnings and to this day the bike possesses a distinctly modern look and feel. My purpose here was to build a modern roadster with BMW’s classic design. The bike utilizes a stock chassis with the front fork lowered 2 inches for lighter handling and a Progressive Suspension shock in the rear. Up front, the original instrument panel cluster has been lowered a bit and a hand formed steel ‘flyscreen’ has been fitted. The sleek lines of the original aluminum fuel tank have been enhanced and incorporated into a one piece hand formed steel seat/tail piece. The solo seat is thin but quite comfortable for extended rides. All of the electronic equipment for the fuel injection system has been relocated up into the seat bodywork as has the battery, which is an Odyssey dry cell. Extensive rear chassis modifications have been done to accommodate the bodywork and equipment. This gives the bike a very clean, uncluttered visual quality. The stock footpegs and controls have been retained as I believe their positions offer a good balance of cornering clearance and comfort. The stock stainless steel exhaust has been shortened and the bike is loud. The paint is the three stage Lamborghini Orange Gold Pearl color code. The BMW marques both on the tank and tail consist of two blue quadrants and two polished metal quadrants. The bike has been meticulously cut/wet sanded and buffed. The bike is visually striking and attracts attention wherever it goes. The motorcycle was also feature in an online magazine.

Personal Drone by Lift Aircraft

Personal drone prototype/test mule. Painted in Cadillac White Diamond Pearl

Rock and Roll Sushi Lounge, Austin TX

1952  Custom Cadillac

A nice Caddy hot rod with some paint issues and mechanical problems.  Hood hinge rivets popped, causing some damage to the front quarter panels.  Rivets were welded, reinstalled.  Also, some paint lifting problems on the hood and front quarter panels.  Repainted the nose.

Gibson Guitar Headstock

An 8 foot Les Paul Custom headstock for a 40 foot guitar.  Candy Mayan Gold over bright Orion silver on the tuning keys and pearl inlays simulated.

Yamaha  XV750

Yamaha’s XV750, while it was designed originally to be the most laid back sort of cruiser, actually had more potential as a completely different kind of motorcycle. As the engine is a fully stressed chassis member, its large cylinders and cylinder head castings and wide 75 degree V make a great visual impression. In addition, the earlier years used a monoshock rear suspension which gives the bike an unusually clean appearance. This bike is a reimagining of the bike as a vintage sportbike. The XV is an unusually narrow bike and, while not particularly lightweight does feel quite nimble. The front fork has been lowered 2.5 inches to lighten the bike’s handling characteristics. The rear subframe has been substantially modified to raise the seat height which gives the rider more direct control of the machine. The rear of the fuel tank has been raised, the pinch weld at the rear removed and rewelded flush and an end plate covers the ‘frame tunnel’ of the rear section. The hand formed steel tail/side plate unit was designed to match the contours of the fuel tank. Two flutes flank the rear section and may add a somewhat more modern impression that I think works nicely. The electrical system has been simplified and the stock dashboard has been eliminated. Even when new, the dashboard was out of place on a bike that had an otherwise distinctly vintage feel. The battery has been moved to under the seat as has the starter solenoid. The upper triple clamps have been stripped and polished and the handlebars are adjustable clip ons. I’ve created an abstracted Yamaha Racing Speedblock graphic design with Tuning Fork emblems in gold over black. The clear coat has a subtle metal flake that’s only visible in the sun. It’s been meticulously cut/wet sanded and buffed.

1985 Yamaha RZ500 Canadian

One of my all time favorite models. V4 two stroke. The bike has been parked for the better part of the last 20 years. It’s getting a full, thorough restoration. The Canadian ‘speed block’ Yamaha graphics will be done all in paint with no decals anywhere. It will get several clearcoats and meticulous wet sanding and buffing to give it a high end show finish. The engine will be entirely rebuilt from the inside out and the bike will get custom made stainless exhaust.
